Good fit when
You are using Bluebook practice tests and want more practice between tests or after finishing them.
Before you choose
Unofficial practice tests can feel different from the real SAT, and their scores are estimates. Keep at least one Bluebook test for the final weeks before the SAT.
Published by Dolphin, one of the options discussed. This is a review of documented features and study fit, not a hands-on benchmark or a measured ranking of learning outcomes.
Bluebook is the checkpoint, not the whole plan
Bluebook is College Board’s testing app. You take the real digital SAT in it, and its full-length practice tests are scored when you are signed in, with results and question review in My Practice. That makes Bluebook the most reliable way to check your progress.
But a practice test only measures. The score goes up from the practice you do between tests: learning the skills you missed and trying new questions until the method sticks. That is where the tools below come in.

A simple routine between Bluebook tests
- Review the last Bluebook test in My Practice. Sort misses into skill gaps, misreads, and pacing.
- Pick two or three skills that cost the most points.
- Practice them daily for two to four weeks. Short sessions are fine. Try new questions, not ones you already saw.
- Take the next Bluebook test and compare by skill, not only the total.
Our guide to reviewing practice tests walks through step 1.
Save one Bluebook test for the end
If you are running low on unused Bluebook tests, keep one for the last week or two before the SAT. A fresh official test close to test day gives the clearest read on where you stand. Use unofficial tests earlier for timing and stamina.
How Dolphin fits between Bluebook tests
Dolphin’s free iPhone and Android apps draw from 10,000+ SAT and ACT questions and adapt to the topics you miss most, so each session works on what your last Bluebook test showed. Every question has a short video explanation, and Pip, Dolphin’s study assistant, can give a hint before you answer. Dolphin Web adds full-length practice tests and score tracking. Dolphin is independent and not affiliated with College Board. See Dolphin vs Bluebook.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an alternative to Bluebook for the digital SAT?
Not for the real test. The digital SAT is taken in Bluebook, and College Board's Bluebook practice tests are the only official full-length digital practice. Other tools are best used between Bluebook tests for skill practice, explanations, and extra unofficial tests.
What should I do after finishing all the Bluebook practice tests?
Review every missed question in My Practice first, then practice those skills with the free Student Question Bank and Khan Academy. For more full-length practice, use unofficial adaptive tests from prep apps, and treat their scores as estimates.
Are third-party SAT practice tests accurate?
They can be useful practice, but their questions and scores are not from College Board. Use them for timing and stamina, and use Bluebook results as the more reliable measure of where you stand.
Does Dolphin work alongside Bluebook?
Yes. Use Bluebook for official full-length tests, then use Dolphin between them. Dolphin's free phone apps adapt practice to the topics you miss most, and Dolphin Web adds its own full-length practice tests and detailed review.
