Use your exam to choose the study format
Start from what your instructor will ask you to do. For terminology, short recall prompts may fit. For a calculation, work problems with changed numbers and conditions. For an essay, practice making a claim and supporting it with evidence. For a diagram, explain the relationships rather than only naming its parts.
Choose the format that makes you perform that work. Reading a generated answer to an essay question is a different activity from composing your own answer under time pressure.
Run one comparable session
Give your two finalists the same short, representative material. Include something you genuinely find difficult. Prepare a reference answer before asking the tool for help.
Use this record:
- Coverage: Which important idea was missing?
- Accuracy: Which statement or answer needed correction?
- Independence: What could you do afterward without help?
- Friction: What work would you need to repeat every week?
Do not add those observations into a supposedly scientific score. Use them to make your own tradeoff explicit. A tool can be attractive and still be a poor match for one particular class.
Keep the stack small
Start with one primary workflow. Add a second tool only when you can finish this sentence: “I use it for this task that my current routine leaves unfinished.” Keep your original class material as the reference across both.
If your notes are scattered, first organize one week’s scope. If your questions are too easy, rewrite a few before changing platforms. If you need help understanding a concept, use office hours or a supported tutor workflow and then attempt it alone.

There is no defensible universal winner from this source review. Choose from your course’s assessment format, the quality of a small trial, and the access you will actually use.
Is an AI-generated practice test equivalent to an official exam?
No. Treat generated practice as supplementary. Your instructor’s scope and assessment guidance determine what you need to prepare for.
Can AI study tools make mistakes?
Yes. Check their outputs against your course material, especially answer keys, assumptions, and omitted exceptions.
